Mary Ann (Crooks) Severson, resident of Mt. Pleasant, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on May 25, 2022. She was born October 18, 1941 to Clifton and Mattie Lou (Calvert) Crooks in Titus County, TX and was a member of Gladewater Baptist Church located in Titus County.
After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1960, she worked at several local industries while raising her four children. She had a very strong work ethic, but her family was always first in her life. She enjoyed staying in touch with her family and friends by telephone or visits. Mary Ann was an original member of P. A. Thomas’ Women’s Softball League and played for many years. She enjoyed cooking, mowing her yard, and watching her birds. She will be affectionately remembered for her gracious heart and always being willing to help those in need.
Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her family: son, Charles H. Sullivan; daughters & sons-in-law, Sherrie & Kevin Summerlin; Pamela & Kendall Daniels; Regina English Smith & fiancé Johnny Reynolds all of the Mt. Pleasant area; three brothers: Danny Pat Crooks & wife Darline; David Crooks & wife Karen; and Larry Crooks; sister, Anita McRae & husband Jerry; uncle, David Calvert; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by two husbands, Jack Roy English and Dennis Severson; one infant son, Jackie Roy English; her parents, grandparents; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Esther Crooks; brother-in-law, Dean Demby; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Richey.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Syed & staff; Dr. Delisi & staff; Chambers Hospice; especially the love and care shown by Sara Torres.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Gladewater Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
