Barry Wayne Guthrie, age 65, passed away on May 2, 2022 in Mount Pleasant, TX. He was born on November 24, 1956 in Mount Pleasant, TX to James Henry Guthrie and Elizabeth Ann (Lain) Guthrie.
Barry was of the Church of Christ faith. He worked for his father as a laborer at Tex-Pack Freight. He enjoyed simple pleasures – drinking coffee, watching movies, and taking walks. His last expression voiced to his family and friends each and every time he saw them was the words “I Love You”. Barry will be affectionately remembered as a gentleman with a sweet, wonderful soul.
Barry is preceded in death by his father, James H. Guthrie, in 2021.
Left to cherish Barry’s memory are his loving family: mother, Elizabeth Ann Guthrie of Winnsboro, TX; twin brother, Larry Guthrie of Winnsboro, TX; brother, Bruce Guthrie of Holiday Island, AR; sister and brother-in-law, Mindy & Joe Bersalona of Harlingen, TX; nieces: Jaden Bersalona of Brooklyn, NY and Jenna Bersalona of Austin, TX; cousins: Ronnie McKillip of Carrollton, TX; Mark Lain of Austin, TX; and Melinda Hargis of Longview, TX; as well as countless friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
