Bertha Marie Porter

Bertha Marie Porter was born on July 25,1927, to James Carl Porter and Bonnie Lee West Porter in West Mountain, Texas. At age 4, she went to live with her grandparents. Her grandmother, Della Reeves raised her until she met Billy DeLisle. Marie and Billy met at the Box Factory in Pittsburg shortly after Billy returned home from WWII, where he served in the Army Corps of Engineers. They were married on April 4, 1947, in Pittsburg, Texas, and were married for 5d1nyears before Billy went to be with, he Lord. They had two children, Carolyn and John. Marie was a housewife for 21 years. In 968 she began working at The Pleasant Dress Factory. She inspected apparel for 18 years. Marie enjoyed sewing and making cloths for her family. She found peace in acrylic painting, where she crafted beautiful landscapes. Her creativity expanded from arts to cooking, where she could make a delicious meal with limited ingredients. Her creativity and thriftiness made sure her family never went without. Marie enjoyed telling stories, reminiscing about old times and writing creative fiction. Most of all Marie loved and enjoyed being with her family.

DeLisle, sister-in-law; Peggy DeLisle Durant, brother-in-law: Roger Durant, grandson-in-law; Robert Benjamin Gambrel.

Survived by grandchildren; Carolyn Delisle Denny, Weldon Denny of Celeste, Texas., Tammy Denny of Cibolo, Texas, Kirk Denny and wife Cynthia Butler Denny of Tyler, Texas, Kelly Denny Ehrman and Jim Ehrman of Celeste, Texas. Great grandchildren; Misty Currier Rogers and Chad Anderson, Amber Currier Drummonds and Michael Drummonds, Kamie Currior Galindo and Josh Galindo, Hunter Reece Denny and Kaylie Denny, Mason Cold Denny, Ruth Marie Gambrel, Gabriel Gambrel. Gt Great Grandchildren; tony Holmes Jr., Gage Holmes, Mia Rogers, Aiden Ledbetter, Autumn Drummond, Porter Drummond, Theodore Drummond, Magnolia Drummond, Scarlett John, Gavin Benton, Jacob Galindo.

Graveside service will be 2:00PM, Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Bro. Tommy Oglesby officiating.
