Funeral Service Ruthie Jean (Smith) Linwood, 78, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, will be 11:00 A.M Friday, February 18, 2022 at First Church of God in Christ, Mt. Pleasant with Supt. Dr. Tommy Smith, officiating, under the direction of Tumey Mortuary. Mrs. Linwood transitioned, at home, on Sunday, February 13, 2022.
Ruthie was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on July 2, 1943 to Arthur and Jadie Smith.
She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1961 and where she served as the class Reporter. She was a member of the First Church of God in Christ, Mt. Pleasant where she served as church mother. She was fondly known by her family and friends as “Bubba”.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers Charles Ray Smith, Arthur Smith Jr., Willie George “Buck” Smith; her sisters Nina Mae Smith and Billie Jo Minter.
Ruthie leaves to cherish her memories her husband W.J. Linwood of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her two daughters and son-in-law Mikita Linwood of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Marcia and Leroy Gipson of Allen, Texas; two grandchildren Brandon Gipson and Jada Gipson both of Allen, Texas; brothers and sisters-inlaw James Harold and Hattie Smith of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Tommy Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, John and Sylvia Smith of Omaha, Texas; Bobby Wayne Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her sisters Nona Ann Rundles and Cheryl L. Smith both of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her sisters-in-law Lillie Smith of Childress, Texas, Annie Smith of Saginaw, MI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
