The Chapel Hill Red Devil soccer team hoped for a fast start in the district schedule.
Unfortunately, the start wasn’t what the Devils hoped for when winter weather caused havoc on their opener. The Devils started their season Monday at Pittsburg, but fell to the Pirates, 7-0.
It was a tale of two halves as the Pirates took a 6-0 lead into the half, but the Red Devils held the Pirates to one goal in the second half. Oscar Mejia and Armando Netro had several strong runs at goal in the second half.
In another tale of two halves game, the Red Devils fell to Pleasant Grove, 9-3. The Hawks led at halftime, 6-0, but Chapel Hill held the Hawks to a stalemate in the second half, 3-3.
The Red Devils took on Paris on the road Friday night. Chapel Hill will host New Diana Tuesday in their first of three consecutive home games.
