Another year comes to a close. Listed below are some of the biggest newsmakers in Titus County from January to June in 2021.

January

Mount Pleasant Police Department Lieutenant Corey Gable retired after years of service.

The Honorable Angela Saucier was sworn in.

February

Recording-breaking winter storm Uri brought snow and ice to east Texas, leaving many residents without power or water.

March

EDC director Nathan Tafoya won a “40 under 40” award in economic development.

April

Chapel Hill ISD selected Daniel Pritchett as the new superintendent.

May

Mount Pleasant High School basketball coach Joey Chism was recognized as a top coach in the state.

Now former Chapel Hill ISD superintendent Marc Levesque retired.

June

Dr. Rodney Burrow was sworn into the Texas Board of Criminal Justice.

The Mount Pleasant-Titus County Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual “Happy Birthday USA!” event.
