Ron Smetana, PhD, age 72 of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones November 12, 2021.
Ron was born in Wichita, Kansas July 27, 1949. He was a professor of philosophy at Kansas State University and U. T. Edinburg in the Rio Grande Valley before retiring to Mount Pleasant.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rose Smetana and his sister, Carla. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Carter, his son, Max Rees, wife Nicole, and grandson, Sage, his stepson David Carter and his husband Michael, his brother Craig Smetana and Doug Smetana, wife Julie, their children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers who provided gentle, loving support.
A private memorial was held by the family.
