Martha “Yvonne” Nelson passed away peacefully on October 31, 2021.
She was just 9 days shy of her 87th birthday. Yvonne was born on November 9, 1934 in

She was the ninth of 10 children born to Fred and Lilly Bloomfield. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She met Harold Nelson, a young WWII veteran, in 1954 and married in 1955. She moved to the Pleasant Grove community in 1956 and was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Yvonne found joy in camping and fishing, gardening, old westerns, singing in the church choir and Dallas Cowboy football.
She was widowed in 1992. She moved to Corpus Christi five years ago but always referred to the Mount Pleasant area as “home”. She will be missed by the friends and family she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Weslie Nelson, Sr., a son, Harold Weslie Nelson, Jr. (Jan), her parents, three brothers, and six sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Verna Ann Nelson, Paula Nelson, and Pam Nelson Meyer (Calvin) of Corpus Christi.
She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Jason Meyer (Becky) and Travis Meyer (Heather) of Corpus Christi, Dustin Meyer (Caitlan) of Tampa, Florida, Kristie Nelson Bly (Thor) of Houston, Ruby Maxwell of Hudson, Florida, and Taylor Maxwell of McKinney, Texas. She also leaves five great-grandchildren.
Services for Yvonne will be private.
