MORTON

Tommy Rex Morton passed away on Oct. 9, 2021, in Mt. Pleasant, TX. He was born on December 27, 1955, in Mt. Pleasant, TX to Sam Morton, Sr. & Anna Lou (Smith) Morton.

Rex worked at Luminant for 40 years. He was a hunter, fisherman, gunsmith and mechanic. He could build or fix anything including fishing rods & lures as well as leather working. Rex loved spending time with family & friends especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother & grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Shelia Ryan Morton; daughter, Michelle Sensig and fiancé, JD Whatley of Tyler, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Blake Rhodes of Mt. Vernon, TX; grandchildren, Jason Blankenship, Nolan Whatley, Hannah Davis, Emily Sensig & Audra Davis; sister & spouse, Wanda & Lonnie Lynch of Mt. Pleasant; sister & spouse, Sandra & Quinton Kelly of Gun Barrell City; brother & sister-in-law, Sam & Laquetta Morton of Mt. Pleasant, TX; sister-in-law, Sandy McLain of Greenville; brother-in-law & spouse, Garry & Kristi Ryan of Mt. Pleasant; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Hoot & Shirley Ryan of Mt. Pleasant, TX; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Sam and Anna Lou Morton; grandson, Johnathan Alexander; brother-in-law, Tony McLain; special aunt and uncle, Mary and Jesse Ryan.

A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Bates Cooper Sloan Chapel with services to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at the Union Hill Cemetery.
