40-year-old Fernando Santos was found guilty by a jury on Dec. 16 and sentenced to life in prison.
Santos, of Mount Pleasant, was first arrested in February 2022 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The trial commenced on Dec. 15, with Titus County District Attorney Charles Bailey prosecuting. Santos pleaded not guilty at the time. The jury convicted Santos after a two-day trial, resulting in a fine of $10,000 and life imprisonment.
Before his arrest in 2022, Santos had various assault charges and a terroristic threat charge on record.
