Funeral Service for Earl Wayne Burris, 71, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, will be 11:00 A.M Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with Rev. Kirthell Roberts and Rev. Gabriel Griffin, officiating. Burial in Piney Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, under the direction of Tumey Mortuary. He died, September 24, 2025.
He was born in Sacramento, CA on October 2, 1953, to Earl and Jonnie Burris. In 1992, Earl moved from Lufkin to Mount Pleasant and married the love of his life, Carolyn Johnson. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He retired from Pilgrim’s Pride after 42 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Brenda Young.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Burris of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; sons Fredrick (Britney) Johnson of Lancaster, Texas, Dondre (Mahaila) Burris of Dallas, Texas, IsaacEarl Burris of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren Ava Johnson, Candice Johnson, Lailana Burris, Liliana Burris; his sister Linda Smith of Broken Bow, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
