Corey Hale Barker, 56 of Mount Pleasant, Texas had his sunset on October 19, 2024, at Longview Regional Hospital, in Longview, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 2, 2024 at 10 a.m. at The Mission Church 112 E. 3rd Street Mt. Pleasant, Texas 75455; with Pastor Eric Lynch as Pastor.
Corey had his sunrise on September 27, 1968 he was born to Linda Hale Culbertson and Milton Barker, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He grew up in San Diego, California where he formed many lasting friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1984- 1988, and he truly lived the motto, “ Semper Fi”, Always Faithful. Corey loved this country with a burning passion, and loved the Lord Jesus Christ with an even greater burning passion. He worked at Home Depot for 7 years, before having to quit due to kidney failure. While at Home Depot he made some good friendships there as well. If you were a friend to Corey, you might as well have been family, because he treated you as so. Before Corey got sick he enjoyed fishing and reading his Bible. There was not a time he did not stop to pray with people. Corey was not just concerned about if you had a place to sleep and food to eat, he was also concerned about your eternal destination. Corey attended The Mission in Mount Pleasant, the minute he walked through the doors he said”I feel at home”.
Corey is survived by his wife of 15 years Shawna. He had 6 children,13 grandchildren. Brittany (Brian) Jones, and Breanna (Phillip) Jones of Seymour, IN; Brooke (Willie) Brandenburg of Austin, IN; Braylin Barker of Bloomfield, IN; Destiny (Clayton) Pate Thompson of Mount Pleasant, TX; Stormie Pate of Pittsburg, TX. He had 13 grandchildren, Daltien & Jason Jones; Elijah, Matthew and Bethany Jones; Herschel, Braxton, Maria, Serenity & Corey Brandenburg, Adeona Barker& Chaya Hudson and Ellie Barker. 4 brothers and a sister, Terry (Gayle)Peacock of Mount Pleasant, TX, James Peacock of Mount Vernon, TX, Ronnie (Amy) Peacock of Muskegon,MI; Jerry Peacock of San Diego, CA & sister Dawn (Sergio) Samaniego of San Diego, CA. He was preceded in death by Steve(Brother), Linda (Mother), Tamara(Niece), Rick(Uncle), Donald(FIL), Lola (MIL) and Rebecca(SIL).
