Larry Gene Krpec passed in the early morning hours on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in his home in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Larry was the second born child to Louis and Mary Krpec on July 31,1952 in Hallettsville, Texas. He grew up in a predominately Czech community in Shiner, Texas graduating from Shiner High School in 1970. During his high school days, he worked in the neighbor’s cotton fields and as a grocer and butcher. Larry began his college studies at Southwest Texas University and later transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where he pursued and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1974, the first in his family to earn a college degree.
Larry married the love of his life, Debby Smith in 1976 after meeting in Dallas, Texas. Their marriage produced two children, Brandon Louis, born in 1979 and Kaci Leigh, born in 1982.
The family of four settled in Mount Pleasant, Texas in 1983 where Larry served 40 of his 50 years as a registered pharmacist. He was the proud owner and operator of Medical Center Family Pharmacy for 27 years.
Larry could be described as a generous, honest, hardworking man who cared deeply about those he loved - his family, his friends and anyone who worked under his wing. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, including his grandchildren, Edie and Willie, golfing with the guys, watching longhorn football, gardening, hunting, and fishing and was always willing to impart bits of knowledge when asked. Larry learned the value of a dollar at a young age and because of this he meticulously took care of anything he owned. He found deep joy in surrounding himself with the beauty of nature, took the time to marvel at a beautiful sunset or sit beside his pond to ponder life’s intricacies. He instilled these values in his daughter who hopes one day to pass these invaluable life lessons to his grandchildren.
For these and many other reasons, Larry will be deeply missed by many people for a very long time.
Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debby Krpec, daughter and son-in-law, Kaci and Andrew Lovelett, grandchildren Edie & Willie, and sister Carolyn Carr.
He is preceded in death by his son, Brandon, his mother, Mary, his father, Louis, his brother, Louis Krpec, Jr., and his four-legged friends, “the boys”Mr. Miyagi and Gizmo.
Services for Larry will be held at a later date in a private ceremony.
