‘I Built This’ brings new opportunities

There is a lot of road construction going on in Texas, creating some great employment prospects for job seekers. To help people find those careers, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TXAPA), and the Associated General Contractors of Texas (AGC of Texas) have announced a joint workforce development partnership titled “I Built This.” The “I Built This” initiative seeks to educate Texans about the abundance of available opportunities in the heavy highway construction industry and connect job seekers with companies through digital advertising and community events.

County commissioners hold public hearing

The Titus County Commissioners held a special meeting, which included a public hearing on the proposed PACE Program. PACE, or the property assessed clean energy model, is “an innovative mechanism for financing energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements on private property,” according to www.energy.gov “There is a very specific process to establish this program,” Dub Taylor with Texas PACE Authority said.

Sheriff’s office seeking information regarding fugitive

Investigators at the Titus County Sheriff ’s Office are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of fugitive Zachary Taylor Holt. According to officials, Holt is wanted in connection with an investigation into a report filed by a property owner in Titus County, who alleged that in July 2022, “Holt defrauded the complainant out of a significant amount of money in the process of building a home for the complainant.” According to TCSO, Holt spoke with investigators over the phone July 25 and was offered the opportunity to turn himself in at any county of his choosing.
