Six injured in wreck

At about 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on August 2, the lives of the Rangel family from Chapel Hill was changed in a “jaw-dropping” experience. In swerving to miss an 18 wheeler, Mrs. Rangel, driving the family’s Chevrolet suburban at about 55 miles per hour, crashed heavily into a light pole. The impact was so severe that the Jaws of Life device had to be used to extract at least one child, and three of the children had to be air lifted to various hospitals.

Texas A&M—Commerce offers scholarships to MPISD teachers

Fifteen Mount Pleasant ISD teachers learned Monday that they would be offered full scholarships for the Texas A&M—Commerce Pride Pathway graduate program, pending meeting enrollment requirements. The program provides current MPISD teachers who hold a college degree a path toward teacher certification through graduate level courses which can lead to a master’s degree.

NTCC holding auditions for ‘Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus’

The Northeast Texas Community College Theatre Department, in collaboration with Firefly Community Theatre (Pittsburg Camp County Arts Council) will soon host auditions for it’s upcoming radio play production of Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus, based upon the teleplay by Val De Crowl and Andrew J. Fenady.

NTCC pickleball class begins Aug. 22

By now you’ve probably heard about Pickleball, but have you given it a try? NTCC’s continuing education Pickleball class is back by popular demand! There’s never been a better time to get some exercise and have a great time making new friends and learning about this exciting sport. The class, which costs $75, will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 22 - September 14 from 6:30 p.m.
