A discussion for Help America Vote Act (HAVA) grants was held during the Titus County Commissioners meeting June 8.
Mount Pleasant ISD celebrated the beginning of a construction project with a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning. The project includes a complete transformation of the front of the high school, with a new entryway, and more. Classrooms and interior will also be renovated. Inside cars adorned with signs, streamers and paint were citizens and business owners of Mount Pleasant participating in the peace parade, which was held Saturday. It was held to encourage unity and equality upon people, as well as bring awareness to the community.

Gilbert Roy Johnson, age 74, passed away at his home on June 9, 2020. Gib was born on May 1, 1946 to Haskell and Tannie Newman Johnson in Tyler, Texas. Marring the love of his life, Sue Bynum, on June 10, 1967. Gib pastored 47 years at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cookville. He was a very dedicated and faithful pastor, loving his church family as he did his own family.
