Several years ago, I drove several times to Hot Springs, Arkansas, the hometown of my early childhood days, to gather history and information for a novel, and the canvas of my walk took on new meaning when a family secret was unearthed.

Two Democratic candidates running for United States Congress were the political speakers at a festival entitled, “Our Votes Our Voices,” at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center on Nov. 30. The purpose of the event was to unite the community through faith and spread the importance of voters’ voices.

East Texas Men in Harmony performed their show, “Seasons of Love” on Nov. 22 at NTCC’s Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The show featured songs that reflect romantic and familial love, as well as love for one’s country and faith.
