Outdoors Writer Texas bass pro Dakota Ebare of Brookeland recently announced his departure from the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour after two full seasons. Ebare, 31, says he plans to compete in all nine Bassmaster Opens Elite Qualifiers n 2024 with aspirations of qualifying for the Bassmaster Elite Series in 2025.

Mount Pleasant High School FFA members attended the Paris District FFA Convention on January 11. Members listened to speeches and voted on the 20242025 District and Area Officer candidates and were audience members for performances from several FFA talent teams.

MPHS UIL competes at Pine Tree Invitational

The Mount Pleasant High School UIL Academic team opened its spring season on Friday and Saturday, January 12 and 13, at the Pine Tree High School Jar of Dirt UIL Invitational in Longview. MPHS placed 3rd overall out of 24 schools represented with three events taking 1st place overall team honors.

Three city council places up for election

An election has been called for three city council spots, currently held by Councilmembers Tim Dale, Henry Chappell and Galen Adams. The call for the election was unanimously approved by the council; election day is May 4.
