Donation helps embellish NTCC tradition

James Bradley Witt, Gary Gibson Witt, and Beverly Witt Wootten have provided a generous scholarship in the name of their parents, Dr. and Mrs. Bradley Witt. The fund will cover registrations and costs for six student scholars of NTCC to present their research at meetings of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) in six successive years. The NCHC is the oldest and most prestigious association for twoand four-year honors programs, and colleges in the United States. Formed in 1966, it includes 900 member-institutions in Europe and America, and publishes two refereed journals and a monograph series.

Mount Pleasant High School hires new Head Football Coach

Mount Pleasant ISD formally hired Joe Cluley as the new head football coach at a special called board meeting on Tuesday, January 11 at noon. The name Joe Cluley may sound very familiar to many in the Mount Pleasant Community. That is because his dad, Joe Cluley, was the Head Football Coach for the Tigers from 1986-1989, leading the Tigers to a quarterfinal finish during the 1989 season.

Rise in virus cases prompts school closures

A dramatic rise in the number of COVID cases and other illnesses has prompted area school districts to cancel classes and extracurricular events this week. Chapel Hill ISD announced on Tuesday that the district would close on Wednesday and would remain closed through next Tuesday, January 18.
