County Agent, Lou Ann Rollins says, “I can use all the immune and brain help I can get. Fruits and vegetables are great medicines, so eat 1½-2 cups of fruit and 2½-3 cups of vegetables each day”. Other beneficial nutrients include fiber, Vitamins C and A, potassium, and folate.

Future of Sugar Hill VFD discussed at Commissioners Court

At the last meeting of the Titus County Commissioners Court, Mount Pleasant Fire Chief Larry McRae gave a presentation on fire protection in the city and county, detailing the training and response times of local VFDs.

SpringFest set at NTCC for April 21-23

NTCC students and faculty are working persistently to prepare the Sustainable Market Garden for the 3rd annual Springfest set for April 21-23rd. “In response and celebration of National Ag Week, we are delighted to open our gates and share our farm with the community in hopes to instigate an appreciation for farming.” said Director Rene’ McCracken. “While we cannot hope to have a “perfect” farm we do strive to provide a living example of what is possible for small farm operators.”

MPHS Theatre Department announces final productions of the season

The Department of Theatre at Mount Pleasant High School proudly announces its final performances of the 2021-2022 season with THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) [REVISED]. The production will be the first in the new Studio Theatre in the recently remodeled Performing Arts Center at MPHS. Performances will begin at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, April 26 and Thursday, April 28. Admission is $5. Children under 10 are free. Seating in the new Studio Theatre is limited so reservations are required. To make reservations, call 903-259-2854.

NTCC Funeral Service Program granted seven-year reaccreditation

Northeast Texas Community College recently received notification that its Funeral Service program has been granted a seven-year reaccreditation with the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE). This makes NTCC one of only four accredited funeral service education programs in the state of Texas. Students who graduate from the program with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Funeral Services are eligible to sit for their National Board Exams in both funeral directing and embalming.
