NTCC car brings $100,000 at auction

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation and the Carroll Shelby Automotive Program took center stage in front of thousands and a national television audience last Friday night at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The college’s 1968 Shelby GT350 convertible sold to John Simonetti from Granbury, Texas with a bid of $100,000. All of the proceeds go directly to the NTCC Foundation to support students in the Shelby Automotive Program. The NTCC car was one of only four charity vehicles auctioned during the week-long event.

TRMC Board of Managers monthly meeting held

On Jan. 29, the Titus Regional Medical Center Board of Managers met for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The meeting was opened with a prayer given by Senior Pastor Chris Wigley of Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor Wigley shared details of Trinity’s upcoming event, Night To Shine, that will offer a red carpet experience to local individuals with special needs and their families. This event is part of an initiative from the Tim Tebow Foundation and includes over 300 local volunteers, including TRMC providing a dedicated EMS Team for any needed medical assistance.

City of Mount Pleasant honors Paula Fern Rose

The City of Mount Pleasant recognized the services of Paula Fern Rose by naming the Mount Pleasant Public Children’s Library in her honor. The unveiling ceremony of the “Paula Fern Rose Children’s Library” was held on January 30 with the Rose family and friends and members of the City Councilmembers and staff attending.

Pilgrim Bank promotes Shane McNiel

Texas saltwater anglers should make note of a more restrictive bag limit on spotted sea trout that will be implemented in coming weeks following approval by the TPW Commission during its January 25 meeting in Austin. The limit includes a reduction in the daily bag limit from five fish to three, a change in the slot limit from 15-25 inch to 15-20 inches and an increased length limit on big trout that will allow anglers retain only one fish over 30 inches at part of a daily bag limit.

No CWD at Kerr after all

Just when you thought the story behind the discovery of chronic wasting disease in a penned deer at Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Kerr Wildlife Management Area’s 23-acre research facility couldn’t get any more unfortunate, it did. The good news is the 14-month old buck that tested “suspect positive” for CWD last fall was not infected with the disease after all.
