The CDC serves children 0-5 years old in high quality preschool classrooms, as well as pregnant mothers. Please stop by the Child Development Center at 1602 West Ferguson Road to pick up an application and make an appointment. Applications may also be printed at www.mpisd.net/cdc/. Victim drowns in lake

Body
A single car accident at Lake Bob Sandlin claimed a life on September 16 when a Dodge Charger was driven into the lake near Camp Shiloh Lutheran Retreat. According to reports, the victim has been identified as Adonis Niyurukundo, 23, of Dallas, who drove into the lake off the boat ramp. It is believed Niyurukundo may have been attending a weekend Bible retreat at the Camp. The Camp County Sheriff’s Office was notified about 9:30 p.m., and the victim’s body was recovered by the Mount Pleasant Fire Department dive team just after 11 p.m. using an underwater sonar system.

Chapel Hill ISD is ready to “Kick it Up” at the Titus County Fair

As we wake up in the morning and start to feel a slight chill in the air, we know what that means…it’s time for the Titus County Fair! Just like this year’s Titus County Fair theme of “kickin it up,” the same could be said for Chapel Hill’s student participation. From the Academic Rodeo to taking animals into the show ring, students from Chapel Hill Elementary, Junior High and High School are hard at work gearing up for the competitions.

The Mount Pleasant High School Speech and Debate team is gearing up for another great year. Team members opened their season at the Lindale TFA NIETOC TOC Classic on Saturday, September 17 at Lindale High School.

City Manager Update: FY 2022-2023 Budget Approved

A New Year begins at City Hall on October 1 when the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Budget approved by City Council at its September 6 meeting becomes effective. After months of planning by City Council and staff and receiving citizen input, we are excited to move forward with new initiatives and continue with existing projects.

Titus County Fair Ag Students

It’s that time of year again, the Titus County Fair is right around the corner. These students have been working hard to make sure their animals and Ag mechanics projects are looking the best. These students are ready to show us that hard work truly pays off and give us a run for our money.

Darrin Morris Band to perform on Main Stage

Another one of the exciting musical acts to take the stage at the upcoming Titus County Fair will be the Darrin Morris Band. With their latest release “Like Whiskey” climbing the charts, and a list of former chart toppers like “I Will” and “Wrap You up in Love” the Darrin Morris Band is one of the hottest acts in Texas music today. With a show that has been forged in the fire on stages across the country and in their home state, the group’s hard work is paying off. The band continues to build momentum performing at clubs, casinos, fairs and high-profile events including the Longview Cattle Baron’s Ball, the Great Texas Balloon Race and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
