This is my swan song. The past 11 years have been amazing, as I’ve had the privilege to work with a fabulous staff and also have gotten to know hundreds of people in the community. I’ll be retiring at the end of the month, but you are in great hands.

Arrests

There are 142 inmates in ajil with 123 males and 19 females. Since Jan. 22 the following have been booked into the jail: • CatrinaN.Sanderson,35of Mt. Vernon, was arrested for 3 Class C warrants. • GlennH.Davis,40ofShreveport, La., was arrested for DWI 3rd or More. • CharlesSosa,65ofWaterloo, Ny.

When joy comes rattling in

The couple needed gas for their car, an old clunker with plastic taped on every side window. The bumper was rusty, and the engine rattled; the clanking sound seemed like giant wind chimes banging under the hood. Sometimes, they’re homeless; other times, they find a place to live for a season.

Lake O.H. Ivie cranked out a pair of Legacy Class ShareLunkers on the afternoon January 22, including a 13.26 pounder caught by Lane Olson and a 14.75 pounder landed by Bobby Walden. Both anglers are from Mineola. The two fish were caught during a magical window less than two hours apart.

This Ol’ Mac

Outdoors Writer Nothing lasts forever in the rat race called life. Today, I’m parting ways with a very ol’ friend. We’ve traversed lots of turf over the years and told a wealth of stories together — my trusty MacBook Pro and me. But things just aren’t what they used to be.

MPISD announces administrative changes

Two MPISD campuses will have new leadership for the spring semester as MPISD announces campus administrative changes. Carrie McMinn has assumed the role of Principal of Vivian Fowler Elementary School. McMinn is a graduate of Texas Tech University and earned a master’s degree from Stephen F.
