TCSO seeks help in local theft

Titus County Sheriff ’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a four-wheeler stolen from approximately the 3700 block of CR 1905 near the White Oak Creek Bridge. The theft occurred on or about August 3rd, 2022 and it appeared the ATV had been ridden north on CR 1905.

Wallace Middle School honors Hispanic heroes

In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Wallace Middle School students recently participated in a mural project in collaboration with local artist, David Freeman. Freeman, a 1994 MPHS graduate, worked with Wallace art teacher, Janie Moreno, preparing 9 windows for the Tiger Time art students.

NTCC Honors announces class of 2022-2023

The NTCC Board of Trustees established Honors Northeast in the spring of 2007. Geared to attract top high school graduates and college students, the program has received generous support from both outside donors, and a team of NTCC administrators and professors. Each year, NTCC honors students have presented research at the Walter Prescott Webb Society of Texas (WPWS), the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC) and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). NTCC honors students have won 30 State of Texas Caldwell Awards, 10 Boe Awards of the Great Plains Honors Council, eight Britt Poster Awards of the GPHC, and on the national level, 20 Leaders of Promise, 18 Coca Cola Awards, three Hites Awards, two Pearsons, eight Guistwhite Awards, and 11 exclusive Jack Kent Cooke scholarships. NTCC Scholars also have published 23 essays in refereed scholarly journals since 2009.

NTCC Ag Program sees enrollment boom

Beginning Fall 2020 due to recent strategies to include ag classes as science options in core, developing a new method of delivering dual credit courses in our cooperating ISD’s and improving and expanding our on-line offerings- as COVID hit, the Northeast Texas Community College Agriculture department doubled enrollment. Following this substantial increase, every semester showed double digit growth!

Titus County Farm Bureau hosts garage sale for CIS

Titus County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a garage sale fundraiser to benefit Communities In Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas. Donations are now being accepted. You can help by dropping off any new or gently used item you wish to donate to the garage sale at the Titus County Farm Bureau office located at 1607 S. Jefferson Avenue in Mount Pleasant.

Meeting Monday to determine future

The City of Mount Pleasant and Titus County had a fire protection agreement for the last 22 years or so. The county pays the city, from the last agreement, 27% of the city fire budget to provide fire fighters and apparatus to respond to incidents in the county. This could be a structure fire, grass fire, wreck, plane crash, boating accident, drowning, etc. The previous agreement should have expired in 2020, but due to COVID it was extended two years.

Sue Hall was eight years old in 1952, and attending school like other children her age. One morning she became violently sick for no apparent reason. Her teacher called Sue’s mother, who took her to the doctor’s office immediately.

Tigers faithful to celebrate Homecoming

MPHS proudly announces the 2022 Homecoming Court. Homecoming festivities will take place Friday, October 14 during pregame of the varsity football game between Mount Pleasant and Nacogdoches at Sam Parker Field.

The Child Development Center in Mt. Pleasant is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year. The CDC serves children 0-5 years old in high quality preschool classrooms, as well as pregnant mothers. Please stop by the Child Development Center at 1602 West Ferguson Road to pick up an application and make an appointment.
