Local financial advisor Erin Conrad lives a life with a commitment to service and a passion for helping others as she serves the people of Mount Pleasant and Titus County at Edward Jones. With a bachelor’s degrees in both finance and accounting from the University of Texas at Tyler and a pair of Masters degrees in Finance and Business Administration, Conrad came to her local Edward Jones office after working in corporate finance and accounting.

NTCC Rodeo results announced

Northeast Texas Community College hosted the third National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Rodeo October 21-22 at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Arena. Bull rider Colton Burkard (Ivanhoe, Texas) placed second for the Eagles with a 76-point ride, all while competing at the United Professional Rodeo Association (UPRA) Finals in Dallas this week also.

NTCC Webb Society presents in Nacogdoches

The NTCC Webb Society, comprised mainly of students of Honors Northeast, presented their eighth trailer of an upcoming film at a fall meeting of the State Walter PrescottWebbSociety,14October,inNacogdoches. The trailer and coming film are entitled, “Texas Suffragette: The Minnie Fisher Cunningham Story.” The film was written and directed by Texas Heritage National Bank Scholar, Skylar Fondren. The group is working to premiere this spring, the first feature-length film on the surprising victory of the Texas suffragettes. In June of 1919, thanks to their efforts, Texas became the ninth state in the union to adopt the Nineteenth Amendment. It was also the first southern state to bolt from an anti-suffragette coalition led by the former Confederate states.

Honoring the important work of family caregivers

During November, which is National Family Caregivers Month, take time to honor and thank the Texans who provide care to their loved ones. According to the Family Caregiver Alliance, a caregiver is defined as “any relative, partner, friend or neighbor who has a significant personal relationship with, and provides a broad range of assistance for, an older person or an adult with a chronic or disabling condition.” According to a 2020 report by AARP, about 89% of caregivers are relatives and about 10% of caregivers are providing care to a friend or neighbor.

Chapel Hill Northeast Goes National

“I believe in the future of agriculture.” If you ever had the opportunity to wear that blue and gold you will recognize those words as the opening to the FFA Creed written by E.M. Tiffany. The “future” of agriculture has been gathered this week in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the 95th National Convention. Chapel Hill Northeast FFA members were a part of the approximate 65,000 members, advisors, advocates and sponsors in attendance. This week-long experience is a learning opportunity for students to grow in their understanding of leadership, service and agricultural awareness.
