Foundation receives $197,778 from matching grant

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently received a check for $197,778 in Title V matching funds from the U.S. Department of Education. Pictured (from left) is Dr. Ron Clinton, NTCC President, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement. Thanks to a unique provision of the federal grant, all donations to the Foundation’s endowment are matched 100 percent by Title V funds.

MPHS Electrical Technology students advance to state

Body
Mount Pleasant High School Electrical Technology students competed in the SkillsUSA District competition on February 3-4 with five advancing to the state contest in April. In the National Electric Code Testing event, senior Angel Nava placed 1st and senior Humberto Ramirez came in 2nd.

City council addresses zoning issues, agreement with NTCC

The Mount Pleasant City Council met for a special meeting on February 21 to discuss a longstanding agreement with Northeast Texas Community College, infrastructure improvements, and zoning issues. City leaders discussed approving Ordinance 2023-1 amending sections 52.00 Title V of Chapter 52 of the Code of Ordinances to increase utility charges; add section 52.09 TRI Sud water charges repealing all conflicting Ordinances.

MPISD advances four teams to state Destination Imagination competition

Body
Twelve Mount Pleasant Independent School District Destination Imagination (DI) teams competed against over 100 teams from the East Texas Region of DI. Nine MPISD teams brought home medals for their efforts and four of those are advancing to the state tournament, the Lone Star Finals, in March.
