Titus County Fair kicks off with fun for all

The Titus County Fair is in full swing! These exhibitors have been staying up long hours so they can give us a run for our money, and they sure have! On September 27th the Floral Design Contest competed. The contest had 27 exhibitors, and the students were from Mount Pleasant FFA, Chapel Hill FFA, Harts Bluff FFA, and Rivercrest FFA. These students have an hour to complete their floral arrangements. These students have to follow the rules that they are taught in their Floral Design classes, these students have to make sure they have their focus points right with their Carnations, their Statice flowers are in the correct positions, and that they have used their Letherleaf in the right places. The contest places the top seven arrangements, Grand and Reserve receive a banner and a buckle that is sponsored. The companies that sponsored this year’s buckles were Mill’s Flowers and Murphy’s Pest Control. The Grand Champion winner is Emma Sellers from Mount Pleasant FFA, and our Reserve Grand Champion winner is Joe Collier from Rivercrest FFA. These students did a wonderful job creating their arrangements. Congratulations to all of ya’ll.

Wednesday, September 28, our Rabbit exhibitors showed and they did amazing. These students have been working with their rabbits to get them used to being handled and being able to stay calm in loud environments. There were nine pens of rabbits, for the livestock shows they compete for Showmanship, there are three different divisions starting this year which are Junior, Intermediate, and Senior showmanship. These students did a wonderful job presenting their rabbits and made sure to give their knowledge of their animals when the judge asked them questions. The judge awarded the Grand and Reserve Champions and then the Showmanship winners. This year’s Grand Champion is, Analeigh Dunn from Chapel Hill FFA, for the Reserve Grand Champion, Peyton Seelbach from Chapel Hill FFA. Showmanship winners Junior Division, Peyton Seelbach, Intermediate Division, Eastyn Dunn, and the Senior Division Analeigh Dunn. These exhibitors have done an amazing job in keeping their animals well-fed and healthy. Congratulations to you all, yall did a wonderful job.

Thursday, September 29th, this day started early. AG Education Day was the start of the day this is put on by the Mount Pleasant FFA chapter, doing this education day let their chapter the chance to show the younger students what animals they can show in the future and how the animals are used in the world. The schools that joined them were AA’s Treehouse, Brain Gym, Chapel Hill Kindergarten and First grade, E.C. Brice, Vivian fowler, Rivercrest, Corprew, Homeschool students, and Mount Pleasants Lifeskills. These younger students are able to have first-hand experience by being able to have examples in front of the. The elementary students have the opportunity to feel the cotton that is used to make their shirts and learn valuable knowledge about the animals. They are also able to lightly touch the animals to have a better understanding of them. These students love being able to interact with the animals and learn interesting facts while also having the time of their little lives. These students are being shown what they could show and see that one day they could be the ones teaching the elementary students while being involved with their FFA chapter, which is what makes FFA so special.
