This past Monday, Pewitt ISD Superintendent issues an official statement about a serious threat at the school district. The threat involved a student, who was searched and retained pending an investigation, and was later deemed to be a credible threat. The district’s Threat Assessment Team took action to escalate the threat, and the student was turned over to authorities and transported to the local Justice of the Peace.
Reid stated that any and all threats are taken seriously, and told the Tribune that she was extremely satisfied with the way their system handled the situation, and was extremely grateful to the Threat Assessment Team and all of the faculty involved for the professionalism and prompt attention to the matter.
According to Morris County officials, the threat was credible and the minor student has been detained pending further investigation.
