This past weekend, the eight members of the Harts Bluff TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators( chapter traveled to the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas, to compete in the Teach Tomorrow Summit, the TAFE State Competition. There were 276 schools from across the state of Texas, with a total of 2,965 students in attendance, making up a total of 1,887 competitive entries, all vying for a chance to advance to the Educators Rising National Competition.

The students competing from Harts Bluff made a statement. In the first year of having a chapter, eight students advanced to the State level from the Area competition back in December of 2022. Of the eight students each and everyone received a medal, with four advancing to the National competition, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, June 29th through July 2, 2023.

The two TAFE sponsors are Kristin Williams and Sherri Howard. The following students participated at High School Level: Ally Jo Cook- Teacher Created Materials- National Qualifier, Ruth Martinez- Children’s Literature- National Qualifier, Leslie Bernadino- Interactive Bulletin Board- Gold Medal, Izzy Morrow and Ally Jo Cook- Interactive Bulletin Board- Silver Medal, Bethany Ventura- Interactive Bulletin Board- Silver Meda and Izzy Morrow- Impromptu Lesson Planning. The following students participated at Middle School Level: Eden Arzarte- Interactive Bulletin Board- National Qualifier, Hope Irwin- Interactive Bulletin Board-National Qualifier, Leslie Robertson and Hope Irwin- Project Visualize/Appreciation- Gold Medal and Hope Irwin- Teacher Created Materials- Silver Medal.
