Euterpean club holds meeting

The Euterpean Club of Mt. Pleasant gathered in the lovely home of Barbara P. Caldwell on Thursday, Nov. 18 to present a program of music titled “A Joyful Celebration of Our Lord .”

Caldwell was the most gracious hostess and Melba Spann and Nancy Alexander were the most gracious co-hostesses.

Yvonne Hampton was the program director.

President Mavis Brush called the meeting to order at 3:45 p.m. A business meeting was held. Brush welcomed guest Sharon Eaves. Hampton presented the introduction to the program and the ensemble performed the beautiful spiritual, “My Lord What A Morning,” arrangement by Sue Ellen Page.

Members performing were Alexander, Frances Beck, Brush, Caldwell, Mary Jane Cannon, Hampton, Spann and Mary Ann Spearman.

Caldwell performed a beautiful vocal solo, “Trust His Heart” composed by Eddie Carswell and Babbie Mason.

Beck and Mary Jane performed a lovely piano duet “Morning Has Broken” from the Gaelic tune Bunessan and words by Eleanor Farjeon.

Alexander performed a lovely vocal solo “Between Here and Sunset” composed by Dottie Rambo.

Hampton performed a lovely vocal/piano solo “Shout To The Lord” composed by Darlene Zschech.

Beck was the accompanist for all vocal performances with the exception of “Shout to The Lord,” as previously noted.

All members and guest stood and recited the “Music Collect”. Refreshments of hot chicken salad, a cheesecake sampler, cheese covered stuffed Green Olives, cashew nuts, gugles with dipping sauces and beverages of coffee, tea and water were served from a beautiful Thanksgiving themed table.
