There will be a Summer Horticulture Series offered beginning May 12th from 10 AM-12 PM at the Titus County Extension Office discussing Viticulture and growing grapes in Northeast Texas. Other topics throughout the Summer Series include Fruit and Nut Trees held on June 9, Water Conservation and Rainwater Harvesting held on July 7, and Fall Gardening held on August 11. The cost is $10 per session. The annual decoration day for Lone Star Cemetery will be held on Sunday, May 16 at the Lone Star Missionary Church. A business meeting will begin at 10:30 am. Please mail your donations, if you can’t attend, to Lone Star Cemetery, P.O. Box312, Cookville, Texas 75558. Come to the meeting and express your ideas to the subjects discussed.

The annual Decoration Day for Gray Rock Cemetery will be held Sunday, May 16 at 2 o’clock. We will gather at the pavilion for a brief business meeting and a time of fellowship will follow. Gray Rock Cemetery is located on the south service road west of the Titus-Franklin County line. Donations are appreciated for the upkeep of the cemetery. White Oak Springs Cemetery Association will hold this year’s decoration day on Saturday, May 22. The business meeting will be held at 11:00. Donations are needed for help in continuing upkeep of the cemetery and grounds. Donations can be mailed to: White Oak Springs Cemetery Association, 7138 FM 1402, Mt. Pleasant, Texas 75455.

June 1-2

The Mount Pleasant Tiger Basketball program will host its annual boys’ youth basketball camp June 1-2. The camp will run from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM both days. Online registration is open until May 31 at www. mpisd.net. Campers may also register at the door each morning. Payment and the medical release waiver must be submitted before campers will be allowed to participate. Cost for the camp is $30 and any student that completed 3rd-8th grade is welcome to participate. Athletes will receive instruction from the Mount Pleasant coaching staff which has led the Tigers to regional tournament appearances three out of the past four years. Former Tiger basketball players will also be assisting and teaching campers the fundamentals of basketball. Camp flyers will be distributed to each elementary, middle and junior high campus this week!

Cypress Basin Hospice will be celebrating its 35th year of providing quality end-of-life care focused on comfort and compassion this June. Join them for an evening honoring this monumental milestone with a four-course dinner, fellowship, and live music on Saturday, June 5, at Nardello’s in downtown Mt. Pleasant! All proceeds from this event will continue to support Cypress Basin Hospice’s mission and their promise to the neighbors of Northeast Texas. Proceeds from all community events provide medications, medical equipment, and medical supplies for charity patients on service. The average cost of a charity patient on service is $126 per day.
