MPHS senior signs to perform with the Cavaliers

Mount Pleasant High School senior, Joseph Tolentino, signed a letter of intent to perform as a member of the Cavaliers, a marching band that travels the country performing and competing in the summer. Tolentino auditioned for the group via a video submission and was selected to perform as a member of the Cavalier Color Guard. The group will perform 21 shows this summer, including four in Texas, and will end their season at the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis in August. Tolentino graduates on Friday, May 17, then leaves the next day for St. Louis where he will begin rehearsals.

Outdoors Writer It’s official. The enormous non-typical whitetail buck tagged last October in Bowie County by youth hunter Reili Brewer of Avery has been accepted for entry in the Boone and Crockett Club’s 32nd Big Game Awards book.

Eagle Baseball All Conference Team Honors

The Northeast Texas Community College Baseball team is rolling into the Regional Tournament this week with several accolades for the members of the Eagle Baseball team. Sophomore Carson Lorch from Cypress, Texas made the First team All-Conference at second base.

Mount Pleasant High School athletes named to Academic All-State swim team

Two Mount Pleasant High School swimmers including senior, Sophie Greco, and junior, Kate Ball, have been named to the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) Academic All-State team. To be nominated, student athletes must be juniors or seniors and must have an overall GPA of at least 3.75.

Mount Pleasant High School golf qualifies three for Regional tournament

The Mount Pleasant High School Tiger and Lady Tiger golf teams played in the District 15-5A tournaments at Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater on March 26-28. The Tigers were scheduled to compete in a two-day tournament, but due to inclement weather, they played all 36 holes on Tuesday, March 26, finishing in 4th place overall as a team.
