Homer stepping down as Tigers head football coach
Tuesday evening the Mount Pleasant High School Athletic Director resigned. Head Football Coach Corey Homer stepped down from his position. He has served as athletic director and head football coach for four years.
Mount Pleasant High School will begin its search for a new athletic director and head football coach immediately.
Homer will remain on staff and maintain athletic director duties until a replacement is found.
Homer has been known as a positive influence in the school and community for the past four years.
He spent much of his free time visiting elementary schools and reading to students. Throughout his tenure he organized service work, allowing his football team to visit Titus County Cares and provide a charitable service to the community.
Inside the district he was known for pulling kids off the football fields and sending them to the classroom to take care of any unfinished school work. Homer worked hard to build the program the right way.
In his four seasons with the Tigers they were a combined 7-34. The team made the playoffs once in his tenure and were ousted in the first round, albeit by the eventual state champions.
