Garrett, Crane named to TABC All State list
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, or better known as TABC (not the alcohol commission) posted their All-State basketball list this past weekend. TABC is the second largest basketball coaches organization in the United States and is the premier list to be on. Earlier TGCA (Texas Girls Coaches Association) came out with their top 40 list; TABC came out with their top 20 All-State list and both Mason Garrett and Rebekah Crane made the cut. This is the second year in a row that Rebekah Crane has been named to the TABC All-State Team. Mason Garrett was named to the TABC All-Region Team last year.
“TABC is the holy grail when it comes to basketball” said Coach Matt Garrett. “They (TABC) are the ranking list that matters and the honors list that matters the most for basketball in the state of Texas. There is no finer organization to be recognized by than TABC” Coach Garrett concluded.
Chapel Hill has been well represented by the TABC organization in past years. Throughout the basketball season, TABC had Chapel Hill ranked No. 2 right behind No. 1 Wall for the entire year.
Everyone was wanting to see that game being played, and many called it the State Champion match up though it was played as the State Semi-Final. It lived up to its hype as the game went into overtime before Chapel Hill prevailed.
In the past years TABC has recognized Chapel Hill for several accomplishments. In 2016, Mrs. Coach (Courtney) Garrett was named by TABC Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2017, TABC awarded Chapel Hill the 3A State of Texas Team Free Throw Champion. In 2018 TABC awarded Chapel Hill the 3A and UIL Overall State of Texas Team three point Champion. In 2019, this year, they are currently the conference 3A Team 3 Point Leader and have the overall individual 3A Point leader. Those recognitions will come later if Chapel Hill can hold on to that spot.
