Chapel Hill’s basketball programs again ranked by TABC pre-season

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) pre-season rankings were posted this past Monday.

Both the Chapel Hill Boys and Girls teams are listed as favorites in their region again.

The Chapel Hill Red Devils are featured in the pre-season rankings at #14. Right ahead of them at #13 is Mt. Vernon, making the two schools the favorites in the district to go one-two in some order. This past year the Red Devils went 30-6 overall and 12-1 in district play and made it to the Regional Tournament.

The Lady Devils come in the rankings at #6. Also ranked from Chapel Hill’s district is #4 Mt. Vernon ahead of #6 Chapel Hill and #7 Winnsboro, nipping at the Lady Devils’ heels.

Last year everyone in Texas said that the Region 2 State Tournament Final Four representative would come out of district 13-3A.

The prediction came true as Winnsboro defeated Chapel Hill by two in the regional quarter-finals and then Mt. Vernon defeated Winnsboro in the regional finals to go to the State Final Four.

Like last year, it is believed all across the state that whoever survives out of district 13-3A will be in the Final Four.

This past year the Lady Devils went 28-6 overall and 9-3 in district play, advancing to the regional quarter-finals.

The girls basketball practices kick off this Wednesday with the boys basketball practices beginning the Wednesday after the girls.
