Margaret Jewel Hervey
Services for Margaret Jewel Hervey, 78, of Naples, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 at Norris Samuel Curry C.M.E. Church. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Visitation was held Friday.
Ms. Margaret Jewel Hervey was born November 10, 1940 to the late Albert “Tremp” Hervey and Jewel Roney Hervey. She passed away February 3, 2019 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She received her education from Carver High School, graduating in 1959. She went on to attend Hurd’s Beauty and Barber College in Marshall, Texas, sign language School in Kilgore, Texas, and trade school in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She joined Cottrell Chapel C.M.E. Church at an early age. The church was later renamed Norris Samuel Curry C.M.E. Church. She was very active on the usher board for several years. She was also a member of Heroines of Jericho, Mary Allen Court #232. She loved to cook, garden, clean house, eat, dress, sew, go shopping, and she especially loved going to Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Hervey and Jewel Roney Hervey; sister, Brenda D. Hervey-Jones; niece, Jocelyn Hervey-Jones; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Precious Hervey of Naples; a brother, Billy Ted Hervey of Houston; two nieces, Trashay Hervey of Naples and Jewel Renee Hervey of Houston; two nephews, Marcus Hervey of San Antonio and Patrick Hervey of Pearland; two great-nieces, Mackenzie Hervey of San Antonio, Lauren Hervey of Pearland; four great-nephews, Tyeriske Hervey of Naples, William Hervey and Theodore Hervey, both of San Antonio, Landon Hervey of Peraland; one sister-in-law, Olivia Hervey of Houston; two special cousins, Curtis Richardson of Los Angeles, California and Sedalia Hamilton of Cason; special aunt, Oma Roney of Cason; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
