James Earl Meadows
James Earl Meadows, age 86, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home. James was born January 12, 1931 in Farmersville, Texas to Joseph Benjamin Meadows and Jettie M. Gentry Meadows.
James was a member at First United Methodist Church in Omaha. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served in the 805th Air Police Squadron. He retired from Lone Star Steel where he was a crane operator. James enjoyed fishing, drinking coffee with the morning coffee group, traveling, and spending time with his family.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Meadows, in February’ his parents; and one sister, Ollie Mae McKay.
Surviving family members include two daughters and one son-in-law, Ann Casey and Mike Johnson of Naples, Texas, and Pam Meadows of Omaha; one son and daughter-in-law, James “Jimmy” and Laurie Meadows of Millers Grove, Texas; one sister, Faye Davenport of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, Michael Thigpen of Omaha; special friend, Mae Coffey of Naples; seven grandchildren, Tara Casey, Tim Schwab and wife Ashley, Joseph Meadows, Allan Meadows and wife Bree, Heath Meadows and wife Taylor, David Smith and wife Jordan, and Douglas Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Makayela Corona, Braxton Coffey, Bentley Scholl, Jayden Schwab, Ellora Holt, Addalyn Schwab, Maverick Meadows, Prestyn Meadows, Fallyn Meadows, and Kodilynn Smith; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jay Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Naples.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Omaha or to Heart to Heart Hospice.
