NTCC receives two 1968 Shelby convertibles

The Carroll Shelby Automotive Program at Northeast Texas Community College added two “new” Mustangs to its stable this week. On Monday they took delivery of a pair of 1968 Shelbys donated by Barry Smith of Legendary GT in Blair County, Pennsylvania. Though both the same model year and convertibles, one is a GT350 (white) and the other a GT 500KR (black).

NTCC Christmas play last performance today

The NTCC Theatre Program has presented A 1940s Christmas Carol, written and directed by Page Petrucka, Thursday and Friday, and the last performance will be today. The play will be performed at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Show time is 7:30 p.m. each night with an additional Saturday matinee on Dec. 4 at 2:30 pm.

Harts Bluff freshmen state bound

For the first time, two students from Harts Bluff Early College High School are advancing to the UIL State competition in Congressional Debate. Freshmen Madison Whorton and Mia Morrow claimed first and second at the regional competition on Nov. 11. The state competition will be held in Austin on January 11 and 12, 2022. The students will be competing against 32 other competitors from around the state in the 1A division.

MPHS Christmas royalty named

The Mount Pleasant High School Christmas King and Queen are seniors Tommy Arredondo and Katie Ochoa. Arredondo is the son of Tomas and Eduarda Arredondo and Ochoa is the daughter of Raul and Shae Ochoa.

Samsung taps Taylor for new plant

Electronic giant Samsung announced last week that it will build a new semiconductor manufacturing facility in the Central Texas town of Taylor, about 40 miles northeast of Austin. The $17 billion investment will be the largest foreign direct investment in Texas to date and brings the company’s total investment in the state to $35 billion.
