Arrests January 25, 2022 There are 127 inmates in jail with 114 males and 13 females. Since 01/23/2022 the following have been booked into the jail.

The Safe Outdoor Dogs Act finally takes effect across the State of Texas

The law takes a huge step forward in protecting everyone from the dangers of inhumane tethering. The law establishes basic standards of shelter and care for dogs left outdoors and clarifies existing law to promote the safety of animals and the people around them without increasing criminal penalties. Most importantly, it provides a baseline for law enforcement and animal control that allows them to step in quickly and save the lives of animals in critical situations.

Chamber hosts annual awards banquet

On Thursday night, the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual awards banquet at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center. Hundreds were in attendance at the event presented by Laura’s Cheesecake.

Commissioners approve donation, budget amendments

At Monday morning’s meeting of the Titus County Commissioners Court, county officials discussed and approved the donation of a firetruck from Nortex Volunteer Fire Department, as well as budget amendments for three of the four Titus County precincts.

Lee gives update on COVID in community, hospital

At the last meeting of the Titus County Commissioners Court, County Judge Brian Lee gave details on how COVID-19 is currently impacting our area. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, Titus County has seen 728 confirmed cases of COVID to date, with 482 probable cases since 2022 began.

MPHS senior advances to state Future Educators competition

Mount Pleasant High School senior, Neida Perez, has advanced to the Teach for Tomorrow Summit state competition after her presentation on exploring non-core careers ranked first in the area. She joins the other seven members who qualified at the Regional competition on December 3. MPHS Texas Association of Future Educator (TAFE) team members advancing to state include Ruby Ferretiz, Gabby Garza, Stephanie Guerrero, Araceli Landaverde, Marcela Mata, Neida Perez, Monserrat Rivero Sanchez, and Mireya Villarruel.
