Winnsboro Festival of Books 2022 will take place on May 7 with activities at Winnsboro Center for the Arts (WCA) and outside on Market Street in Winnsboro, Texas. The festival is from 9 am - 4 pm followed by a spoken word performance at 200 Market St. at 7 pm.
On March 24, the Harts Bluff Early College High School UIL teams traveled to the District meet held at Union Hill High School. The students saw great success facing teams from Saltillo, Bloomburg, Avinger, Avery, Union Hill, Yantis, and Sulphur Bluff, becoming District champions as a district and winning first place in a number of events.
Little Bowen Dyer was born on October 7, 2021. Just a day later, he was diagnosed with a combination of congenital heart defects. The family states that during the process of running tests in January to prepare for surgery, results indicated that the infant is afflicted with heterotaxy syndrome.
The Mount Pleasant High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competed at the State Leadership Conference in Galveston on March 24-25 and had a record 20 students qualify for Nationals with one additional student named an alternate. This year would see a return to an in-person state conference as the event was cancelled in 2020 and was held online in 2021. Thirty-eight students made the trip to Galveston while seven competed online in tested events prior to spring break. Participants attended area meetings, took part in workshops such as “Etiquette 101”, “Job Ready Dress”, and “Team Building”, and were treated to an evening on The Strand on their last night in Galveston.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers to help break the cycle of abuse and neglect by supporting local children and families.
