Workshop held to assist NE Texas small business owners
A business credit workshop was held at the Mount Pleasant Community Resource Center on Wednesday, Oct.18. The Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center (SBDC) held the first Entrepreneur’s Guide To Credit & Money Workshop in collaboration with the Business Credit Literacy Initiative (BCLI).
Attendees became familiar with the full Money Smart for Small Business series, which addressed a variety of topics for starting and managing a business.
After initial discussion of how to legally and quickly improve personal credit, attendees learned how to build business credit. The workshop provided a road map for every attendee to access a minimum of $100,000. Modules were presented, giving participants a better understanding of time management, financial management, organization types, planning a healthy business and more.
Many current and prospective local business owners attended.
The SBDC and BCLI will be collaborating in the year ahead to provide monthly workshops in Mount Pleasant — and offering a Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship Certification.
Entrepreneurs interested in these resources are encouraged to contact Tim Wilson, director of the SBDC at Northeast Texas Community College, 903-434-8237.
