MPPD warns of counterfeit bills being passed

The Mount Pleasant Police Department recently warned Mount Pleasant and Titus County area businesses of counterfeit bills being passed. Although the investigation is still ongoing, the suspect whose picture was recently posted on the MPPD’s Facebook page has been identified, police said on Monday. The name of the suspect had not been released as of Oct. 2. The Mount Pleasant Police Department suggested via Facebook on Sept. 28 that business owners purchase a “counterfeit detector” pen to check all currency coming into their establishments. These pens can easily be obtained at local office supply stores. If you have received counterfeit money, contact the MPPD at 903-575-4004 to report the crime.
