Man charged with Aug. 20 murder of Tammy Jordon
The Mount Pleasant Police Department has charged 28-year-old Courtney Lenard McGill of Mount Pleasant with murder in connection with the Aug. 20 shooting death of Tammy Jordon.
According to Mount Pleasant Chief of Police Wayne Isbell, at 12:24 a.m. on Aug. 20, McGill was engaged in an argument with another person at a party in the 1300 block of Booker Ave. Gunfire erupted and a stray bullet struck Jordon.
According to Isbell, Jordon died shortly after being shot.
McGill has been in police custody since Aug. 31, after he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in a separate incident. A $150,000 bond was set for both charges.
No bond has been set for the murder charge at this time.
In addition to McGill, Terry Heath, 46, had previously been jailed for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon related to actions just prior to the shooting death of Jordon, Isbell said earlier this week.
And on Monday, two additional subjects were arrested for their actions related to the August incident, Isbell said.
Rhett Davis, 24, was taken into custody for warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with physical evidence. Laterrius Shine, 32, was taken into custody for a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Both suspects were booked into the Titus County Jail.
