Local meeting on ‘Sanctuary Cities’ law set for Dec. 4
City Councilman Michael McGahee and Mount Pleasant ISD are asking the public to attend an informational presentation on a number of topics, including the recently passed Texas Senate Bill 4, the “Sanctuary Cities” law.
The meeting, set for Monday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m., will be held at the Annie Sims School at 1801 East First Street. State Rep. Cole Hefner and Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) officers are expected to be present.
The meeting is sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Tribune.
The meeting will cover how local businesses, institutions and law enforcement, and Hispanic residents, could be impacted by the new law.
Also at the gathering, MPPD officers will share information on a child car safety seat program; and representatives of CASA of Titus, Morris and Camp Counties will present information on the organization’s efforts — including letting people know how they can contribute.
