Counterfeit bills show up in Mt. Pleasant on Monday
On the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 2, multiple counterfeit $50 bills were passed at several local businesses, including drive-through locations around Mount Pleasant.
The bills are reported to look real although there are no watermarks, according to information posted online by the Mount Pleasant Police Department. The bills feel soft to the touch and the sides of some of the bills are reported to be roughly or unevenly cut.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department is asking all Mount Pleasant residents and business owners to beware of these bills to help avoid becoming a victim. The MPPD stated that the investigation of the counterfeit bills is still active and the department does have two possible suspects, one male and one female.
Anyone with information that could assist MPPD investigators is asked to contact Detective Ellis at 903-575-4193.
